With endless miles of breathtaking palmlined beaches, there’s no question why Punta Cana is called
“The Coconut Coast.” What started as a small fishing town in Dominican Republic, Punta Cana has become the mecca for luxurious Carribean hotels and resorts like legendary fashion designer and Domincan native, Oscar de la Renta’s five-star Tortuga Bay. It was just recently I made quick 3 1/2 hour escape from NY’s cold winter to enjoy Punta Cana’s lush tropical vibes. Of course I spent my days like most looking for tropical warmth--jumping through waves (swell was too small to surf), sipping on some fresh coconut water and absorbing the vibrance of Domincan culture. During that little r+r, I was overwhelmingly inspired by bright hues of blue, green and torquoise mixed with the neutral colors of the white sand and crumbling waves. Working in this industry, my creative eye tends to wander looking for inspiration and here’s what I found...
